Uzbekistan to host the first Asian Lacrosse Games

Samarkand, Uzbekistan – July 1-4, 2024

The upcoming Asian Lacrosse Games (ALG), is set to take place from July 1st to 4th, 2024, in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, marks a significant milestone in the development of lacrosse in Western Asia. The event, sanctioned and endorsed by World Lacrosse (WL) and the Asia Pacific Lacrosse Union (APLU), aims to showcase the sport’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Western Asian region.

Confirmed participants include Uzbekistan, India, and Saudi Arabia with players and officials set to compete in the tournament. Unfortunately, Iran and Pakistan could not make the event due to traveling issues. This years event will be focused on the senior women’s division, aligning with the upcoming Asia Pacific Championship Qualifiers. However, future ALG events will be intended for Men’s and Women’s divisions depending on interest and resources of the participating and host members.

Additionally, the the first two days of the ALG will be dedicated to training programs aimed to enhance the technical competencies of the players, officials and coaches participating.

Tournament Format

The tournament format will be two game round robin between the three teams of which, each team will be allocated 3 points for wins, 1 point for ties, and 0 point for losses. From there the 2nd and 3rd seed will play a semi-final game, with the 1st seed playing in the finals.
